When University budgets got tight, we searched for ways to save on administrative costs. We realized that the thick binders of course materials, including slide presentation printouts, were very costly to produce each semester. I built and constantly updated a handful of websites for various classes at UC Berkeley Extension and SJSU. By utilizing a free tool, Google Sites, the best tool available at the time for this purpose, we were able to eliminate these production costs. Students were able to use these sites for file sharing and communication with each other, as well as with the Instructor.
